Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will lead an expected 25,000 pro-woman, pro-life activists along San Francisco’s waterfront on Saturday, January 19, 2008 proclaiming “Abortion Hurts Women.”

The 4th Annual Walk for Life West Coast begins with a rally at 11:00 a.m. at the foot of Washington Street and the Embarcadero and continues with a 2 1/2-mile walk to Marina Green shortly after 12:00 noon.

Other speakers include Pastor Dr. Clenard Childress, founder of Black Genocide.org Gianna Jessen, survivor of a saline abortion, radio host Jesse Romero, and Latin film star Eduardo Verástegui of the recent film, Bella.

Roman Catholic Archbishop George Niederauer of San Francisco and seven other California Catholic bishops will join the rally and the Walk.

The Walk for Life West Coast began in 2005 when a small group of San Franciscans decided to organize a walk to reach out to women in support of life. Each year participation has grown, with attendees coming from the Bay Area and other parts of California and the western states. Over 20,000 pro-life advocates participated in last year’s Walk

Speakers and event organizers are available for interviews. A special media area has been created behind the stage for on-site interviews prior to the rally.
