Days until we Walk for Life on January 25, 2025

Pro-Life hero the Rev. Walter Hoye, who will be one of our featured speakers at January 26’s Walk for Life West Coast, is profiled in the current edition of the Oakland Catholic Voice. The article includes a gripping description of Walter’s unjust sentencing, from the new book “Black and Pro-Life in America: The Incarceration and Exoneration of Walter B. Hoye II.”

Excerpt:

“…Walter found himself stripped of confidence and struggling to console himself. He wondered whether he would make it through his first night in custody without needing to fight physically to defend himself.

Some members of the courtroom audience groaned as Walter’s legal counsel explained his decision to refuse the lesser sentence of three years’ probation, 30 days in jail or a sheriff’s work program, and a $1,300 fine. They were the same people who had erupted with exuberant cheers when the jury announced his guilt. But there were others in the audience who were silently praying on his behalf, and Walter leaned on the quiet strength of their presence in the rows behind him…

Walter Hoye’s position had been unwavering since the first sentencing, when he told the judge, “I believe an unjust law is no law at all.… It is my intention to continue my efforts to save the life of the unborn child, by reaching out to men and women going into the abortion clinic, with the love of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.”

The Rev. Hoye’s Issues4Life Foundation will host the Standing Up 4 Life Walk on Friday, January 25, from 12-2PM, at Oakland’s City Hall. Guests include Pro-Life Feminist, author, and past Walk for Life West Coast Speaker Karen Shablin; Dr. Pat Castle, of LifeRunners; and Walter’s old friend, Fr. Frank Pavone, of Priests for Life.
