Every year we get wonderful stories of encounters that happen during the Walk. Here’s one from this year:
While the Walk was still going on, two members of our press team were rushing back to the office to get the press release and photos out to the media. It was very crowded downtown, but they managed to hail a cab. The following conversation with the driver ensued:
Driver: (whose name was Barnabas and was from Africa and spoke with one of those lovely African accents): “Sir, I can’t take you anywhere down the hill! Traffic is terrible!”
Us: “That’s OK, we are going uphill, just make a right turn.”
Barnabas: “Do you know what is going on? Why is there so much traffic?”
Us: “Sure. It’s the Walk for Life. We are part of it. It’s a pro-life anti-abortion march.”
Barnabas pauses for a moment, then says: “That is very unusual for San Francisco. Perhaps there is hope!”
When we arrived, we told him traffic downtown should be clearing up soon, he said:
“I don’t care! I hope it goes on ALL DAY!”
You know we gave him a big tip! Do you have a nice Walk story? Share it in the Facebook comments.
